The famous pianist Ryder is on a concert tour. Upon his arrival at the hotel, he would prefer to retreat immediately, but he is approached by the hotel bellboy, who asks him for an unusually personal favor. Ryder agrees and subsequently makes a series of strange acquaintances that plunge him into deep confusion, all of whom are troubled individuals hoping for help or even salvation from the artist. Ryder tries to engage with each one but realizes too late that he is losing himself in the process.
