In this book, Thomas Luckmann demonstrates that religion has not lost its function even in modern societies. He steps outside the confines of "church sociology" to examine other forms of the religious. This is presented in three steps: through the functional definition of religion, the secularization of religion, and finally the new social forms of religion within the context of a general privatization.
