On April 9, 1996, the event center of the highly regarded East Tyrolean cultural initiative 'Villgrater Kulturwiese' went up in flames. Arson! The village felt relieved. This book provides a local assessment of the 'patriarchal' village morality that violently prevents an 'alternative' morality: The conflict-laden history of the Villgrater Kulturwiese and a survey in the village are supplemented with historical-philosophical reflections. The result: The village morality does not tolerate difference. At the same time, this work aims to illustrate what is meant by an 'alternative' lived morality. In addition to conversations with staff from the Kulturwiese, artists featured at the Kulturwiese are presented as examples, showcasing their work that documents the pursuit of a holistic, challenging, and creative morality.
