Product details
The book "Jesus Sirach," written by the Jewish teacher Jesus ben Sirach in the early second century BC, is one of the deuterocanonical works of the Old Testament, meaning it is part of the canon of the Catholic Church but is considered apocryphal in Judaism and the Reformation churches. "Jesus Sirach" contains, in its first part, wise sayings organized by themes, and in the second part, it provides a hymn-like overview of the entire history of salvation up to the time of the author. Thus, it is classified among the books of biblical wisdom literature. Rudolf Smend (1851 - 1913), a professor of biblical sciences and Semitic languages at the University of Göttingen, undertook the commendable task of translating the book "Jesus Sirach" into German. The present work consists of two parts: the first part contains the German translation.
