An asteroid is hurtling towards Earth, threatening to annihilate all of humanity. Due to budget cuts in research funding, no effective defense measures are available. Ulrich Beer, the scientist and discoverer of the celestial body, has come to terms with the impending doom. His divorce and financial troubles have thrown him off course. Then, something inexplicable happens. The asteroid disappears without a trace. Life on Earth seems to have escaped the catastrophe. However, Ulrich Beer and his friends discover that the universe has changed. Not only Earth, but also distant civilizations are threatened with destruction.
