Product details
The House of Wettin is a German noble dynasty that holds particular significance for the history of present-day German states such as Saxony, Thuringia, Saxony-Anhalt, and Bavaria. The dynasty derives its name from Wettin Castle, located near Halle in the state of Saxony-Anhalt. Since the High Middle Ages, the dynasty produced numerous Margraves of Meissen, Landgraves of Thuringia, as well as Dukes and Electors of Saxony. Hermann Ahrens describes in this volume the politics of the House of Wettin from 1364 to 1379 and its relationship with Emperor Charles IV and the Crown of Bohemia. This is a reprint of the original edition from 1895.
