Cross-border mobility and the diaspora are not new phenomena in the history of humanity. The ongoing globalization, particularly the increasingly affordable and faster means of transportation, as well as new communication systems and media, promote the development of transnational ways of life. Many people utilize these as an additional resource, as an adaptation and survival strategy in the face of global challenges. A transnational entity is also represented by the new Russian-speaking diaspora, which is based on a common language as a means of communication and information carrier. Consequently, it is not about ethnic or national networks, but rather a linguistically grounded network. This language-relatedness is new and fundamentally distinguishes it from previous forms.
