Markus Heitz's novel 'The Dwarves', published in 2003, is one of the most successful German fantasy novels and spent months on the fiction bestseller lists. For Heitz, the publication marked his definitive breakthrough as an author. This was followed by audiobook adaptations and spectacularly staged readings that resembled elaborate theater productions. Now, the next media adaptation of the first book begins at Splitter Verlag, conceived as a four-volume series: the spectacular struggle for survival of the dwarves, whose land is threatened by three enormous forces - the trolls, the ogres, and the orcs - is now also making its way into comic form.
