Hilde Domin (1909-2006) never tired of emphasizing how closely her poems were intertwined with her life. She referred to her work as an "anthology of herself." Domin's biographer and confidante, Marion Tauschwitz, has selected twenty poems and juxtaposed them with the respective, often delicate life situations of the poet. Tauschwitz thus narrates the backstory of the poems, which can be newly understood in light of the biographical context, providing insights for a deeper engagement with the work of the Jewish "poet of return.".
