Barely are new countries born, and they already send their symbols of sovereignty printed on postage stamps in all directions. Whether it's Soviet Bavaria or Lundy, Heligoland or the Kingdom of Hawaii, Tanna-Tuva or the German Empire: their stamps proclaim their claim to state sovereignty. Burkhard Müller now follows up on his first journey into the world of these jagged little artworks, which he began in 1998, with a second trip, discovering for his readers tiny, large, absurd, but also threatening realms, all sharing the same fate: they have sunk back into the ocean of time just as they once emerged from it.
