Historian Rena Molho, an expert in the field of Greek Holocaust research, presents her works on the systematic extermination of Greek Jews for the first time in German with this book. The Nazis exterminated nearly 90 percent of the Jewish population of Greece. This part of Nazi history, its consequences, and its processing are almost unknown in Germany. Rena Molho provides a well-founded overview of the historical events in Thessaloniki, the "Jerusalem of the Balkans," in Ioannina, in the Bulgarian occupation zone of Macedonia, and in Thrace. She also addresses the problematic culture of remembrance regarding the extermination of Jews in Greece today, focusing on education in Greek schools and the perception of the "Greek Holocaust" abroad. Finally, she dedicates herself to the collection and research of oral testimonies.
