On March 23, 1933, the German Reichstag paved the way for the Nazi regime's dictatorship by approving the Enabling Act. Only the SPD faction opposed this parliamentary shift towards dictatorship. With their courageous "no," the Social Democratic representatives exposed themselves to the boundless vengeance of the National Socialists. This study focuses on typical characteristics of the shared fate of the 120 Social Democratic faction members during the twelve years of Nazi rule. Individual aspects of their suffering during this time are also repeatedly highlighted. From this dual perspective, it becomes clear that the biographies of the SPD representatives between 1933 and 1945 often resemble each other, while also displaying many personal facets. The author combines quantitative and qualitative research.
