Anti-Jewish sentiments among Muslims are undeniably widespread. But why? The common definitions and patterns of understanding, explains David Ranan, are no longer sufficient to describe the antisemitism of many Muslims. Is it solely related to the Middle East conflict, or are Muslims fundamentally antisemitic? Is hatred of Jews an integral part of Islam? Or is it a manifestation of Islamism? To find an answer, Ranan conducted more than 70 interviews with young Muslim students and academics, primarily in Germany. The focus was on their attitudes and feelings towards Jews, Judaism, the Holocaust, and Israel, as well as how they view Germany, its Israel policy, and its culture of history. With the results of these conversations, he delves into the historical relationships between Jews and Muslims and the unresolved issues.
