How can different supply chain strategies be distinguished, and what design recommendations can be made regarding a differentiated performance measurement tailored to the individual supply chain strategy? Anke Giese examines various possibilities for the typology of supply chain strategies against this backdrop and presents an approach to delineate different types of supply chains. Based on this typology, a differentiated, process-oriented concept for the implementation of performance measurement is developed. During the preparation phase, questions regarding strategy derivation and the organizational embedding of performance measurement in the various supply chain types are discussed. Thus, all decisions to be made in the context of implementing a performance measurement concept are considered.
