Are there still possible stories? asks Friedrich Dürrenmatt in the introduction to his prose narrative 'The Breakdown', first published in 1956, which may initially appear to the reader as an excitingly written crime story. The playwright and novelist, who passed away in 1990, has repeatedly answered this self-imposed question throughout his writing career with a series of masterful narratives, each time from entirely different perspectives. Six of these stories are gathered in this volume, "still possible stories," in which "from a dozen faces humanity looks, misfortune unintentionally expands into the general, court and justice become visible, perhaps even grace, accidentally caught": the two early prose texts 'The Tunnel' and 'The Breakdown', the story of the fall and assassination of a dictator ('The Fall'), Abu Hanifa, and Anan ben Da.
