Friedrich Dürrenmatt has left behind over 4000 pages of various conversations and interviews for newspapers, magazines, radio, and television—spanning three decades from 1961 to 1990. It was not until the 1960s that a practice of authentically reproduced conversations and interviews began to emerge. These conversations are a unique treasure trove, serving as a documentation that closely resembles a diary, replacing it in this case, reflecting Dürrenmatt's worldview and perception of reality, his aesthetic and material foundations, and the circumstances surrounding the creation of his works. From this literary body of work, the editor has selected the most significant conversations, either in full or in parts, always aiming to create a readable text that orients itself around biography and work, resembling a year and daybook, which captures the exciting, insightful, and humorous character of the conversations.
