Friedrich Karl Waechter, born in 1937 in Danzig, now Poland, initially worked as a graphic artist and then for various satirical magazines and newspapers. In 1970, he achieved breakthrough success with his famous 'Anti-Struwwelpeter'. He received the German Youth Literature Prize in 1999 for 'Der rote Wolf'. F. K. Waechter passed away in 2005 in Frankfurt am Main.
