On a hill overlooking Florence stands the old estate of Signor Paoletti, which he has had renovated with great pomp. However, Paoletti is far from the noble figure he pretends to be. He has more than one dark stain on his reputation, and when Guarnaccia investigates the employment agency that Paoletti runs, the Marshal is threatened in a very tangible way.
