This study deals with the topic of "internal goods transport," which is a vast area in itself. Therefore, the main focus is on the use of a Segway Personal Transporter as a goods transport vehicle. Subsequently, the potential of the vehicle for this type of application is examined. This is done through a technology life cycle assessment and a case study at the auto parts center of Franz Hofbauer Automobile GmbH & Co. KG. In this study, a Segway i2 is equipped with a transport box. Various test tasks are created, which are completed by volunteer test subjects, and the driving time is measured. Furthermore, a hypothetical situation is analyzed in which the company SEGWAY Germany would want to offer this vehicle as process technology. The five steps of substitution planning are applied in this context.
