Product details

In the context of globalization and trade liberalization, intellectual property rights are gaining increasing importance. Since December 2001, China has been a member of the World Trade Organization (WTO). By signing the accession agreement, the People's Republic has committed to a complete and immediate implementation of the Agreement on Trade-Related Aspects of Intellectual Property Rights (TRIPS). Nevertheless, China is often criticized for its handling of intellectual property. More than five years after joining the WTO, this study examines how well the agreements with the WTO are being adhered to by the People's Republic of China. This book first clarifies the specific characteristics of intellectual property, including through a game-theoretical implication. In the next step, the agreements in the field of intellectual property are discussed.
