This book describes the current requirements for an effective compliance function, particularly in the area of credit and financial services institutions. After establishing a current context through economic crime, the study addresses the definition of compliance and compliance risks, and elaborates on the legal necessity based on corporate, supervisory, European, and antitrust law, before examining quasi-legal guidelines (including MaRisk, MaComp, DCGK, IDW PS 980). The tasks and organization of compliance are also presented. In the second part of the book, a distinction is made between corporate governance, risk management, internal control systems, internal audit, and legal departments. Finally, the legal consequences of non-compliance are discussed.
