Everyday life in a medieval monastery still captivates us with its aura of mystery and the unknown. The inhabitants lived according to their own rules and guidelines, which many contemporaries had no access to. Testimonies from this era include chronicles, documents, plans, and buildings that have been preserved and are still recognizable today. These significant legacies of monastic culture give us a glimpse into the past while simultaneously raising countless questions. What was the daily operation around the monastery church like in the early Middle Ages? What does a visitor see when entering the monastery for the first time? How did the inhabitants live there? What did their everyday life look like? These are fundamental questions that interest us here and that this investigation now seeks to answer. A new foundation serves as the basis for this work.
