The long-standing unresolved conflict between Israelis and Palestinians is one of the most complex issues in international law and international relations. This conflict involves questions such as territorial independence, the right to (internal and external) self-determination, humanitarian law, the right to resist a military occupation, human rights, terrorism and state terrorism, as well as the environmental impacts of armed conflicts, to name just a few key legal topics. Moreover, this conflict also touches on other areas of international relations, namely foreign and security policy, diplomacy, military and arms industry, as well as the foreign economic policies of global powers and the involved regional powers.
