Product details
The Seven Years' War is generally associated with the battles of Frederick the Great in Silesia and Bohemia. The other theaters of war in northern Germany, the Rhineland, and Franconia are often overlooked and considered less significant. However, for the populations in these areas, the events posed significant challenges. This book aims to highlight the war events in Upper Franconia, focusing on the Catholic regions in the Prince-Bishopric of Bamberg. The study will attempt to explain the grand politics surrounding the war in the first chapter. Following that, it will present the reasons for the Prussian incursions into Franconia. Defense concepts and the Prussian advance towards Bamberg from 1757 to 1762 will be discussed. The main focus will be on the impact of the Prussian plundering on the local population, the common man.
