Various national and international studies have shown that health and social disadvantages are associated with night shift work. The aim of this publication is to investigate this issue and to present the negative effects of this form of employment. To this end, night shift workers are compared with individuals who are not engaged in night shift systems regarding health, mortality, satisfaction, and their social environment. Educational level also has a significant impact on the aforementioned factors and is therefore included in the analyses. The statistical analysis methods used are the Chi-square test, the Mantel-Haenszel Chi-square test, and logistic regression. The data is based on the life expectancy survey from the Federal Institute for Population Research as well as the first national health survey.
