A Green Building is a property aimed at reducing its impact on the environment and human health. Green Buildings are designed to save energy and water while minimizing negative effects on people and the environment throughout their entire lifecycle. This book analyzes the factors currently driving the Green Building movement from the perspective of the German and American commercial real estate markets. It illustrates through practical examples how investments in sustainable buildings can be profitable and provides an overview of the techniques used. Additionally, it clarifies the regulations and certifications that govern and recognize sustainable construction in Germany and the USA. Special attention is given to the role of the American certification for "Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design" (LEED).
