Product details

The distribution of moving image content on mobile devices is the central theme of numerous conferences and publications worldwide. Mobile TV, in particular, is a hot topic and is celebrated as the next big application. The idea of mobile cinema, which involves watching movies on mobile devices such as phones, PDAs, or multimedia devices like Apple's Video iPod, is often neglected or dismissed as irrelevant. This work addresses the question of what potential the use of cinematic content on mobile devices has in Germany. It explores the motivations for and the acceptance of mobile cinema usage, as well as the devices themselves. Based on the Uses-and-Gratifications theory and the GS/GO model, along with the Compass acceptance model for mobile services, a theoretical framework is developed.
