Physical education is a multifaceted subject in which, among other things, students' performances are to be assessed by teachers. What is considered an academic performance, or according to which criteria and standards a student's performance should be evaluated, is often a topic of controversy. In practice, the question quickly arises: Which performance is even measurable? Assessing students is a challenging and error-prone task for teachers. Nevertheless, evaluations should be as objective, transparent, and ultimately fair as possible. This is a difficult task. According to Weinert, the subjective teacher assessment is therefore in need of correction and supplementation in various respects. He therefore suggests supporting the teacher's diagnostic assessments with objective performance measurements using standardized tests.
