Popular music is a part of our lives. It comes casually from the radio and television or is consciously chosen by us at concerts or through purchased recordings. Popular music is typically expressed in the form of songs. The song naturally also carries lyrics that, like the song itself, sometimes resonate with us and sometimes do not. The central theme of this work is the question of how specific content is represented in the lyrics associated with popular songs. At the same time, general characteristics of these song lyrics are presented. The focus here is on the group Ton Steine Scherben, one of the first German-speaking rock bands in the 1970s, which polarized audiences due to many politically radical and agitative lyrics. The song lyrics are categorized into poetry and examined according to their form of expression.
