Current studies largely agree that about 14% of schoolchildren are victims of bullying, and thus bullying can be observed in almost every classroom. It has been shown that organizational factors in schools, such as stable classes and compulsory education, actually enable the phenomenon of bullying. Research into the necessary conditions for sustained bullying processes has demonstrated that bullying is most effective when it occurs within a strictly structured, hierarchical framework that leaves no escape options for the victims. Additionally, bullying affects not only the victims and perpetrators but can also be described as a collective phenomenon in the classroom. This implies group dynamics, under which ultimately the entire class suffers to varying degrees.
