Product details

The reason for the interest in Central Asia lies in the natural resources of the region, which are crucial for the power dynamics of global powers. Following the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989 and the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991, the Central Asian Turkic republics declared their independence. The downfall of the Soviet superpower is considered the starting point for the Great Game. The new sovereign states of Central Asia are trying to develop under the shadow of Russia. In addition to Russia, the key players in the Great Game include the USA, China, and the EU. Furthermore, Turkey and Iran, as regional powers, play an important role. It takes until September 11, 2001, for one of these players to gain the upper hand in the Great Game. On that day, the World Trade Center becomes the target of terrorist attacks. The terrorists act in the name of Islam and are members.
