Even over forty years after its development, the Capital Asset Pricing Model (CAPM) remains the standard model for determining risk-adjusted capital costs. The model has been repeatedly confirmed in numerous empirical studies, but it has also been disproven on several occasions. Various extensions and alternatives to the CAPM have been developed, none of which have achieved anywhere near the same level of acceptance as the CAPM.
