To prepare veterinary medicine students for practical lessons with patients in an animal welfare-compliant manner and to train their diagnostic thinking, case-based eLearning techniques can be employed. Various case-based eLearning modules have been used for some time in human medicine. The CASUS system has been adopted in veterinary medicine. Up to 70% of students were engaged with voluntary, supplementary CASUS cases. To promote the use of new teaching methods in veterinary medicine and to reduce the effort involved in case design, a study was conducted to investigate whether high-quality cases could also be created by students in the spirit of "peer-to-peer learning." For this purpose, qualitative expert interviews were conducted with eleven CASUS authors and six tutors of elective courses at the Foundation of Veterinary Medicine Hannover.
