The specialized book addresses the current state of the professionalization of social work in hospice care. After an introduction to the areas of responsibility, theories, and concepts of social work within the overall hospice framework, the study investigates through questionnaires whether the standards of hospice social work already in place in Austria are also applied in Saxon facilities. The underlying theses relate to the perception of areas of responsibility, qualifications of staff, and consistency in the framework conditions and social pedagogical support. The study reveals that these characteristics vary significantly and are sometimes implemented only in specific instances. Neither the social pedagogical support nor the conditions are marked by homogeneity. This also applies to the realization of the required areas of responsibility in the context of professionalization.
