Work-related stressful events and their impact on the operational capability of emergency personnel have gained significance not only since September 11, 2001. Even during the past two world wars, soldiers were consistently under special care from doctors and psychiatrists to restore their operational capability as quickly as possible. The past decades and the associated global news of disasters have brought back into focus those emergency personnel who face the responsibility of public welfare every day. This includes the men and women of fire departments, emergency services, and the police. The aim was particularly to prepare these personnel for stressful events through selected preventive and also post-oriented stress management measures, or to create a platform for this purpose.
