Learning is widely regarded as an individual process in which reality is constructed by the learner. Learning requires external information that is actively selected and individually constructed in the learner's mind. This means that external reality is not mirrored and reflected one-to-one in the mind. This renders rote learning pointless. The new hypotheses of learning increasingly influence the design of learning situations in education. Additionally, the changing conditions of the working world make the approach to lifelong learning increasingly necessary. Lifelong learning requires individuals to be able to learn autonomously. There is considerable evidence that new media can particularly support self-directed learning. It can be conducted independently and flexibly, regardless of time and place, with the help of new media.
