The Hanover street system was fundamentally restructured during the reconstruction phase of the post-war period. The bombing from Allied air raids significantly affected the entire urban area, with Hanover's city center being almost completely destroyed. Urban planners, architects, and the political institutions of the city, along with parts of the influential Hanoverian economy and the population, collaboratively developed new concepts to manage the anticipated massive increase in motorized traffic in the future. In the 1960s, the reconstruction of Hanover was compared to a "miracle," which was considered unique nationwide. Under Rudolf Hillebrecht and his team, Hanover was developed into a "car-friendly city." This work aims to present the development lines and stages of the transport routes in and around Hanover.
