Product details

This work addresses the question of how specific cinematographic features and filmic stylistic devices enable the experience of voyeurism in film and integrate the viewer as a voyeur into the narrative. The focus is on the gaze structures within the intradiegetic space as well as between the viewer and the screen. Aiming to provide a comprehensive overview of cinema and the scopophilia of the audience, theoretical essays by Baudry, Metz, Sartre, Freud, Lacan, and Mulvey are presented. Based on this foundation, an analysis of the voyeur films "Peeping Tom" by Michael Powell and "Eyes Wide Shut" by Stanley Kubrick is conducted. The comparison of the two films highlights the application of intradiegetic voyeurism and the evolution of filmic stylistic devices. The book explores the field of voyeurism.
