This work examines the economic viability of a medium-sized bioethanol plant at a production site in Germany. By conducting an analysis of the bioethanol market, the future potential of bioethanol in Germany and the European Union is assessed. In this context, different development possibilities of the bioethanol market are presented through scenarios. Based on this, an investment calculation is carried out in the subsequent sections of the work. Using the net present value method, the payback periods of different scenarios are determined. Additionally, the internal rate of return method is used to assess the profitability of the investment. Based on the results and considering various influencing factors, an investment decision is made.
