Modern communication media and technologies are transforming the world into a large network. Development phases are becoming increasingly shorter, and innovations are part of everyday life. People are gradually adapting to the new possibilities and are changing their behavior—mostly even unconsciously. In the B2C sector, this triggers many complex changes. The future remains unclear for many companies. The aim of this work is to clarify the consequences that companies in the B2C sector should expect when choosing to wait or not to act. Many companies are not aware of the negative impacts of inaction in the digital age. This work highlights these impacts and demonstrates the benefits of modern media. An online expert survey is conducted to make the developments more transparent. International forecasts and trends are based on the results.
