Product details

Painting has been both a nightmare and a dream for me, as no other medium is as deeply rooted and burdened by its long tradition and history as it is. Florian Meisenberg (born 1980 in Berlin, lives and works in Brooklyn, New York) completed an apprenticeship as a media designer before he began studying painting at the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf with Peter Doig in 2004. Thus, his work naturally includes websites and videos, drawings and books, installations and performances. Nevertheless, Meisenberg considers painting to be the foundation of his artistic creation, indeed of his entire existence. He is intrigued by the challenge of overcoming the classical idea of a painting and pushing boundaries through experimentation. This book presents Meisenberg's recent paintings and his new video works. It is important to note that he works in the digital desktop environment.
