In everyday life, Matteo is quiet; only on stage do the words come to him as if by magic. His memory is legendary, yet he experiences the very thing every actor fears the most: while performing as Shakespeare's King Lear, he forgets his lines, just days after the funeral of his life partner.

Matteo flees from Berlin to Lerone, a small town in southern Italy, to reconnect with his old love: the Piazza d’Oriente, the most beautiful square in the world. He hopes to finally find peace there.

However, the Alps that he has placed between Berlin and Lerone do not protect him from the past. A stranger appears, claiming that they know each other. Too late does he realize that her presence in Lerone is not a coincidence.
