For dedicated long-distance hikers, the "Alte Vie delle Dolomiti" is among the most magnificent high-altitude trails in the Alps. Between 1966 and 1985, ten high-altitude trails of varying character and difficulty were established throughout all the mountain ranges of the Dolomites. These trails are described in three volumes of the special hiking guide series by Bergverlag Rother. The volume "Dolomiten-Höhenwege 8-10" has been fundamentally updated and revised. It primarily features easy, but also some challenging paths, leading through constantly changing landscapes and impressive high mountain scenarios with stunning views over 13 to 18 daily stages: The 160 km long trail No. 8 takes hikers from Brixen to Salurn, traversing the western Dolomites from north to south, including the Schlern and Rosengarten.
