The Dolomite legends were first collected and published by the South Tyrolean folklorist Karl Felix Wolff at the beginning of the 20th century. Later, Auguste Lechner made a selection from this extensive collection that was particularly suitable for a youthful audience, and she masterfully brought the legendary figures of the Dolomite landscape to life in her retellings.
