Organized sports have made numerous attempts to combat doping not only through controls but also through prevention. This book offers the first sociological study that critically and constructively explores the possibilities and limitations of preventive measures in elite sports. The authors analyze the mechanisms that continuously generate doping behind the backs of the athletes and examine, based on this understanding, the most important prevention initiatives in German sports.
