Clara von Sydow (1854-1928) was born in Stettin and grew up on the island of Rügen. She worked as a teacher in Berlin, and later lived in Stralsund. The Hiddensee novel "Einsamkeiten" (1911, 2014) is her last and most mature literary work. This volume of the collected works published by Neisse Verlag brings together the early novellas "Dorette Rickmann" (1880) and "Was macht man auf Hohenstein?" (1881).
