Prof. Dr. Hartmut von Hentig is a co-founder of reform pedagogy, which led to significant changes in the relationship between teachers and students: moving away from the authoritarian rote-learning school system towards student independence. Initially, von Hentig held a chair in pedagogy in Göttingen, and then at the reform university in Bielefeld, where he founded the internationally renowned Laboratory School and the Upper School College. He served as the scientific director there until his retirement in 1987.
