Hans-Hermann Graf von Schweinitz comes from the old Silesian noble family of the Lords of Schweinitz, whose possessions extended from Silesia through Bohemia to Moravia and Upper Lusatia. Branches of this nearly eight-hundred-year-old lineage still exist today. The author demonstrated his philanthropic nature and traveled several times to the Near East, Africa, and Asia Minor towards the end of the 19th century, as documented in this small travel report.
