Ernst Freiherr von Bibra, born in 1806 in the Franconian town of Schwebheim, focused his work primarily on ethnography and natural history studies after studying the natural sciences. During his numerous research trips, which took him as far as the South American continent, he dedicated himself in his detailed observations to the peculiarities and characteristics of various countries and cultures. Through his narrative talent, the author still succeeds in bringing interesting observations of a long-gone world to the reader in an excellent manner.
