Recently, new health concepts have emerged that are oriented towards salutogenesis. In pathogenetically oriented conventional medicine, the focus is on disease, specifically the factors that make us ill, while salutogenesis addresses the question of what enables us to become healthy or maintain our health. This shift in perspective emphasizes the importance of individual life design for health: a health-promoting attitude and lifestyle, social contacts, creativity, a sense of purpose, and self-actualization. Salutogenesis will be the key term in the health debate of the coming years.
